The Gipsy Kings are that rare thing - an international household name famous solely for their music. The multi Grammy nominated group consists of two sets of families : the Reyes (Nicolas, Canut, Paul, Patchaï, André) and the Baliardos (Tonino, Paco, Diego). After a fortuitous meeting on the St Marie de la Mer Gitan pilgrimage, the musicians formed a group in 1970, becoming The Gipsy Kings in 1976.
Their music has been described as a place where "Spanish flamenco and Romani rhapsody meet salsa funk". In 1987 The Gipsy Kings' self titled debut album introduced the world to their unque sound and scored a huge international hit with the song Bamboleo. Today, their total album sales worldwide now exceed 18 million. As well as new original songs, many of their hits have been included in the score for ZORRO such as Baila Me and Djobi Djoba as well of course as Bamboleo.
